On my final day my cousin and me went again to NYC (from NJ) ....we went to wall street area...and since i had my flight at 7:07 p.m. we had decided to leave for the car at around 4:30 and be in our car by max 5:00 so that we could reach Lagaurdia airport (which is in Queens) by 6....and guess what?? we didn't realize how time flew by and when we saw the time next time it was around 5:15 and we were somewhere in the center of the town whereas our car was somewhere in downtown....
We took the underground and asked somebody how to get there(Greenwich street)....he told us to get down after 2 stations and walk 2 blocks and we will be there....now we were somewhat surprised since while coming to the middle of the town we took a lot more time(and crossed many stations)... but then we thought that maybe this might be ok since we walked a lot away from our car during the daytime.....and once we got off after 2 stations we asked a cab driver abt Greenwich street and he said it was 2 blocks away...and yes 2 blocks away Greenwich street was there...but the only problem was that we had to be in some building in the 300 series and we were standing near a building in 700 series...
time was 7:00 p.m. (my flight was at 7:07) and i was in the wrong terminal !!!
We knew we were in deep trouble....we walked almost 2-3 more blocks before we could get a taxi (metro was not a good option because from where we got down to the place where we wanted to go did not have direct connection...and Manhattans metro is DAMN confusing...though good)....the moment we got into the taxi we asked him to rush like anything....good guy told us the the route from our parking to the airport and also told us about a road blockage due to some accident and told us which route to catch (my cousin lives in New Jersey and doesn't know much about NYC routes).....we were in our car at around 6:00 and started rushing off like crazy....we had some 26 red lights to cross before we could reach the tunnel to get out from Manhattan to Queens.....since they were all in a line and we were in luck we got thru them fast .... Once we reached queens my cousin told that we have to make an exit from the highway and re-fuel because the fuel light was ON ever since we started from the parking lot and the car was also making some jerks....6:45 and we were re-fueling (another problem: in NJ all pumps have attendants to fill fuel, but in NYC u have to do it ur self and it was first time my cousin had to do it....so she and me took some 50 years (actually seconds) to figure out how to use it)....
We made it to terminal C of the airport at around 6:55 and as i entered to check in i was told that i was in wrong terminal .....though my ticket said US airways which uses terminal C , but under US airways in small it was written operated by United airlines (which goes from terminal B)....time was 7:00 (my flight was at 7:07) and i was in the wrong terminal !!!.... But i guess i was lucky....the flight was late by 1 hour...so it meant i could go to terminal B and catch my flight to Orlando....
Reached Orlando around midnight where my friend was waiting for me for the past 1 hour ( he didn't check my flight was late)....i started telling him abt the NY adventure while waiting for my bag to come....but all bags went by and my bag still didn't arrive....we went to a place where they had placed bags off the belt and there also i could not locate my bag...... then there was a big group who had kept all their bags aside ....so i went over to their side to search for my bag (maybe by mistake somebody took my bag)...but no the bag was still missing....my friend and me were off to the airline counter to claim my bag when i suddenly saw my bag at a side near the belt....well sighed relief and went to the parking lot....now my good friend in his sleep could not remember where did he park his car....infact he even forgot the floor.....so we went up and down for another 15 minutes before we could locate the car and yeah another 5 minutes to locate the exit (it seems somebody had played with the exit signs on that floor).....lot of adventures for a day even before entering any amusement park of Orlando ;)
