Monday - What a whirlwind tour of San Diego we have had.  It was a bit of a trial getting here with a 5am wake up in Cross Plains to travel to Nashville for a flight to Fort Worth, Dallas, Texas and then on another flight to San Diego.  We were late leaving Dallas due to freezing rain and the aircraft having to be de-iced.  A first for all of us.  Arrived at the hotel at about 3.30pm - a bit too late to do anything.  Candice's suitcase was wrecked so we went to the local mall to buy a replacement and had a meal in the foodcourt - usual offerings - but good.

Tuesday - Jane went to the San Diego Zoo and Craig, Vara, Rhyanna and Candice went on the Historic Trolley Tour.  Jane leaves lunch time on Wed so split from the group to do the zoo.  It was fantastic.  The pandas were great and there are so many beautifully done exhibits.  C, V, C and R had a great time on the trolley tour which takes you through Old Town, Balboa Park, over the bridge and down around the harbour.  They stepped off and toured the USS Midway which they really enjoyed.  It took quite some time.  After a very shortened trolley tour from the zoo, Jane joined them and we went on a sunset cruise of the Harbour.  This was great, passing quite a number of US Navy Vessels - the USS New Orleans at sea, the USS Ronald Reagan and so on.  Vara got some good shots of overflying aircraft and helicopeters.  The sunset was a mild one but still lovely.  We went to Anthony's seafood restaurant for our last dinner together.  Everything was great, but we were so full we could hardly make it home in the taxi.  We all had an assortment of seafood with salads, baked potatoes/fries and then dessert!!!  God bless our bellies!!!! which are decideley bigger than when we started our adventure.  We have all had a great time together, doing most of what we wanted to do and seen so much and are bringing home so much!!!  The porters just laugh at our suitcases now!!

The travels are just about over

Wednesday - Vara, Craig, Candice and Rhyanna are off to the zoo today and depart San Diego at approx 7pm on their way back to Australia and home.  Jane is just hanging around updating the blog before heading to Las Vegas for 6 nights and home on Thursday 15 January.  I hope to keep the blog updated for the last little bit of the trip.

San Diego is sunny with temps approx 48F to 60F - quite mild but nice.  The Tasmanians are right at home.
