The drive to Interlaken is spectacular.  We are able through Emily's navigation to go some secondary roads and the vistas are breathtaking...I think Emily took 100 pictures of mountains and houses and things.  We arrived in Interlaken just in time to head to the mountians and the town of Stechelberg to catch a Gondola up to the top of Schilthorn which is 2960 m above sea level.  I convince Emily that although it is 40 degrees down at the base, it will be cold at the top and it is, about 12 degrees.  It is an excellent ride up and once at the top I manage to get her out exploring on the rocks a bit after I promise her she will not slide off the mountain.  The restaurant at the top is famous for it's part in the James Bond movie To Die Another Day which was filmed here, I was hard pressed to get Emily to mimic any of the scary chase scenes over the rocks though.  It is truly a stunning place and we decide to have lunch in the revolving restaurant - James Bond Spicy Spaghetti - as the restuarant revolves like the CN tower maps pass you by and tell you the names of the mountains so you can get an idea of what you are looking at.

We take the Gondola part of the way down and decide to walk the remainder of the way, approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours, it is not too difficult a path, and the gacial waterfalls are amazing and COLD!

James Bond Spicy Spaghetti, swiss fondue ...again food, all about the food

We decide that as it is our last night in Switzerland we will treat ourselves to a swiss fondue and it is truly delicious.  Eating it outside in a cafe looking out at the mountains and watching the paragliders land in a field made for a terrific evening.

Yes, it was definately worth the gondola up. Check at the hostels and visitors centres for discounted tickets. Also check my blog a little later on Interlaken as I went back and stayed at a hostel as opposed to a B&B. I preferred the hostel. Only thing not worth the cost, although it was good was the fondue.
