Bruges day 1

From Europe in Bruges, Belgium on Jul 24 '08

We have left France and made it to Belgium.  The train ride was about 2 and half hours long and the landscape was beautiful.  There was so much to do in Paris, we would need at least another 2 days to see everything that was on our wish list.  I thought I would absolutely hate it and now I have to say that I would go back.

Adam and I have been working well as a team out here.  I am in charge of the map-reading and he takes care of the underground.  Can you believe we are working together on this?  We are actually co-operating... lol

Bruges is a small city that has architecture that has been the same for the most part since the middle ages.  It is like a city lost in time with an H&M.   We have only been here for an hour and you could already tell this is a big party town.  Beer here is super cheap which is a great relief from what we've seen so far.

Tonight begins a 16 night music festival.  They are supposed to be featuring salsa tonight.  I am sure Adam and I will completely embarress ourselves.

Oh, here is a little side note:  We were at the bus station buying tickets.  The vendor said, "That will be 2 Euro 40."  Adam replied, "2 Euro farty?"  I almost died from laughter.

Did you get a chance to see Paris at night? Is it as timeless and beautiful as one always hears? I would imagine it is. I wish there would have been time for you to take Adam to see Naples. Last nite, Sabrina, Scott and I looked up the castle in Naples where Tony is getting married and Sabrina looked up the "Egg Castle" which is right down from the restaurant (Mamma Teresa) which allowed us in as the only patrons when he realized I spoke Napulitane...Remember. Someday -- Adam also should see Pompei and Mt. Vesuvius -- another reason to go back (and God willing, we will)!
