After a grueling 10 hour flight in which I (Rory) managed to get only one hour of sleep we arrived in beautiful Colombo. The second we stepped out the airport the air was thick, at 7 am in the morning it was already 23 degrees. A half an hour bus trip later (with an elephant walking on the road) to a beachside hotel we were sipping papaya juice and watching chipmunks sprint up coconut trees. The weather is fantastic (not trying to make you all jealous) and Colombo is a brilliant place! A few cold beers and some new friends later I took a dip in the ocean, which was as warm as bath. Got fairly fleeced by the locals selling bits of tat and I walk away with a nice bracelet for about 400 rupees (3 quid) but still feeling ripped off. Dad spend a fair bit of time asleep, after being let into the room by the cleaner (as he was dead to the world) I woke him up and he immediately exclaimed "Is Liz about?" hahahaa.
I wish we were staying a little bit longer here, our flight to Goa is at 3 am so getting used to the time here is harder than first thought. We have heard the weather in Goa is about 32 degrees and very humid. Had enough for tonight, desperately need some sleep. We have a few days in Goa so will update in the next couple of days!
