The last couple of days we have spent on the causeway coastal route. What a fantastic drive.

There are some old ruins of castles and forts that we visited and they were good but the scenery and coastline were the winners.

The giants causeway which legend has it was built by a giant to go to Scotland and fight another giant was something special. We did a clifftop walk for a couple of KMS and then down a goat track to the causway its self. Geologists say it was formed by slow cooling lava cracking like a dry river bed but I like the giant story better. The formations are amazing and lots of them. There are also other rock formations called the organ pipes for obvious reasons when you see them on the cliff faces. We spent several hours there it was that good then climbed our way back to the carpark.

Next on the list was the rope bridge at Carrck-a-rede. It was built by fishermen originally to get across to a large rock where the fishing was meant to be better. The bridge is 60 feet long and 80 feet high but after walking the cliffs to get there it didn't seem that big. We crossed anyway and it was well worth it just to be able to look back at all the cliffs with sea birds nesting and flying about.

By now time was getting on so we went to Ballymoney for the night. It's the home of bike racing legend Joey Dunlop, Irelands version of Mick Doohan for those that don't know. Went to his memorial garden and the museum exhibits where there are trophies, leathers and bikes he and his brother rode, won or wore. His family still own his bar called Joeys Bar where I spent way too long and woke up sick next morning
