Well, we made it. The flight was delayed out of Richmond, but we still made our connection so arrived in Las Vegas on time. Flew over the Grand Canyon--that was spectacular. Melissa had a lot of pain landing in DFW from sinuses and the pressure as we decended.....it was so bad it scared me. But the stewardess assured me that was normal, and it got better after we landed.

We had so much luggage we had to upgrade to an SUV, so we are driving in style!!! A REALLY fancy SUV. Drove right down Las Vegas Boulevard and saw that sign that reads "Welcome to Las Vegas" that you see in all the movies. We will have to get a picture there. Arrived at Hooters....this city really seems kind of seedy, and glitzy. Even the tourists are a bit seedy (us excluded, of course) Of course, maybe part of that was because we stayed at Hooters??????? Checked in and went downstairs for dinner....it will be a challenge traveling with two vegetarians, but we managed to find something to eat and it was actually quite good. And that is it! We are too tired for anything else. It is after midnight RIchmond time, so we are exhausted. Goodnight for now! Miss you all!

Beth, Sweet Tomatoes (782) 648-1957 2080 N. Rainbow Blvd. Las Vegas, NV.89108=7049 Monday-Thursday 11AM-9PM Friday and Saturday 11AM- 10PM Sunday 9AM-9PM The food is great. Salad/soups, ice cream, breads, cobblers, fruit all you can eat. Awesome!!!! 5 stars. Jen-Bob

Hey Beth, You are sooo right about the large number of Sweet Tomato restaurants in California. I'm envious. That's got to be my very favorite restaurant. Technically the 5 Star rating came from my judgement call not a rating that's official. I like the restaurant enough that I have considered driving to North Carolina with the family to be able to enjoy the food. I think the closest one to Richmond,VA is Winston-Salem, N.C. Can't wait to hear what is entertaining you in Las Vegas. Loved hearing about your view of the Grand Canyon from the airplane. It's been so many years since I've seen that. The donkey ride down the canyon is hard on the rear end so I've heard. If I were considering an adventure associated with the Grand Canyon I think I consider the heliocopter ride. Expensive but exciting!! Jen-Bob

Hey Beth, How was your flight out? Was there 70+ screaming kids from PMS on your flight?!!! Will flew out at about 7:30am. Think he changed flights in Atlanta.

Hi Beth, Well, I am impressed that you have arrived at your destination in one piece. Welcome to Las Vegas !! Gary and I passed through on our cross country trip when moving to Hawaii with the Navy. Sadly there was a big strike in Las Vegas and the place was rather empty. We saw Captain and Tenille at a dinner show. They sang "Muscrat Susie, Muscrat Sam do the jidder bug..." Do you remember that song? I wasn't much into betting so I took $1.50 worth of quarters and ran the machines. Okay so I lost it all. Luck wasn't on my side. What a joke, but I just wasn't interested. Incase you are wondering the year was 1979. Beth, do you know how to pronouce the name of the state you are visiting? I was sure I knew the correct pronuciatiion until a local squared me away. The second "a" has a hard sound to it just as the word "as" has a hard a sound. Since the girls are vegetarians check and see if Las Vegas has the Sweet Tomatoes Restaurant I think I told you about. Look it up in the phone book. I'll check the computer and see if I can get an address for you. Hugs to the three of you, Jen-Bob. :)
