Off to join the merry men
From Lo! in to the infamous sherwood forest I go! in Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom on May 27 '08
Well today was an exciting day. I, Kym Foley, famous for her courage, chivalry, embarked upon a dangerous adventure. To enter in to the forest of Robin Hood.. the imfamous sherwood forest!
It was a fantastic day. Bev very kindly drove my down to Sherwood forest.. it was wonderful really .There was a whole display set up with all the usual boards of information "Robin Hood, Myth or Legend?" I bought all the crappy and overpriced Robin Hood trinkets that I could get my hands on. Some family and friends shoud be expecting some soon! Then we ventured in to the forest which was becautiful ,really. Some of the oak trees there are over 700 years old and the shapes, twists and turns of some of the branches were incredible. I really enjoyed admiring all these things with Bev and jsut chatting about life as we passed through this ancient forest. Bev asked me why I came to England and I told her that I needed a change. I am still not one hundred percent sure why I came. Travel is exciting and diffferent and new. Probably as I think about it I came because the time was ripe. Maybe I came to find my roots... roots, there certainly were a lot in Sherwwod Forest. (oh dear!) We walked through the forest until see came to the robin hood tree. It was enormous and very impressive. It was propped up with wood beams supported by medal rope. It was the grandpa of all trees and had a zimmer frame to prove it.

After we left Sherwood forest we went to a place called Clumber park. It is an old estate fit with stables, a private catherdreal and the like. The actually house which was enormous and very impressive was knocked down. The story was that because of death duties the family that inherited that property could not upkeep it. I think this is really sad and just another example of the greedy goverment causing nothing but tradedy! Anyways you could walk around the foundations which are really nothing in comparsion to the grandeur of it's former glory. When me and Bev walked around in side it was hard to believe that it was so enormous!
After all that excitemnet we went home. Then there was more excitment to come! We went out to see Macbeth in oprea form. We had to readthe translation on screens as the oprea was in Italian. It was really great! I wasn't really that familar with the story of Macbeth and realised he really is a rright sod! Especially his wife is horrible and they both deserved to die! In my opinion. It was so good of Bev and Graeme to take me and I was thrilled to have had the experience.
Lets see what tomorrow has in stall.
