Update: What is Howe doing since he's been in London?
From The beginning of a whole new Chapter in Europe in London, United Kingdom on Mar 15 '08
Okay so this is just a small update of what has been happening since I’ve been in London. I arrived on the 17th of January and met up with my cousin and have been living with her since. She has 2 kids, Vivienne – 15 and Victor -10.
The first week here I was just resting up at home just getting my body clock adjusted to the local time, I checked out Buckingham Palace and Chinatown briefly and walked around London Trafalgar Square, Leister Square. The London tube is very convenient as there are train lines going in all directions and trains come very often so it is not a hassle.
After my first week in London, it was time to search for a job to start earning pounds. So, thinking of getting into Real Estate I thought I start off looking for a sales job and so I found a job ad online that interpreted as if you can breathe you can get this job. So, I called up this marketing company for a sales/promotional role. It was something I wasn’t expecting at all as my first interview took 2 minutes and I thought there was no chance they were going to give me a call, but in fact they did and told me to come in for my second round interview. Then the next day I came in and that was even more unusual, I spent a day with one of the employees seeing what they actually do on a day to day basis. It was pretty much business to business sales and not only that but selling makeup – Hardcore I would say. I would never have expected myself to do something like that and once I found out it was door to door sales, I got a bit nervous and uncomfortable about the whole situation. But as the day went on, I realized it would be a good opportunity to develop myself and also see how it would be in a sales position. The job sounded awesome as there is progression to work up towards being a manager. So I decided to give it a shot, I went back to my third interview and got the job and started the very next day.
11-12 hour days, with lots of walking and carrying and talking, I was learning so much about sales within the first month that I started having dreams about selling makeup and all. But anyway now I’m 7 weeks into the business and I still enjoy it, I get to talk to tonnes of people, especially hot girls so I can’t complain. I’m slowly started to get the hang of it and everyday is pretty much a different day, you travel to different towns within London and out.
So job wise, I’m working very hard and there doesn’t seem to be time to play at the moment, I even don’t have the time to go to the gym anymore. But the plan is to work hard now for about 6-8 months and see where I’m at. So with my blog entries within London, there probably won’t be much as I work 11 hours a day, but I’ll try and at least put an update once a month or so and of course I’ll put an update on every time I travel too.
So there you have it. My update in London since I’ve been here.
