when we last left our intrepid foursome all was calm on the Caribbean front. Then we went dinner.. I'm not exactly sure that we can call a slider, a bite of fish and some pate dinner but hell, what can you expect from a french restaurant in the middle of the sun soaked blue waters of the carribean.
Following dinner, the boys and I decided to follow the advice of our waiter and go next door to the Fat Turtle (or the bloated toad as I seem to want to call it!) for beers.. and yes folks for those readers from the adventures of Bill and Gino in Thailand.. more beer.. and more beer. Yes there was something about a yacht and then cake and champagne.. honestly not 100% clear on all the details. HEY, we are on vacation and let put it on the line. 4 guys alone in the islands on Valentines day REQUIRED a good party just to keep from getting confused for two alternative lifestyle couples on thier honeymoons! (not that there's anything wrong with that)
I'll take anything with wheels....anything... roller skates??

So today... we are up at 10.. off to the ferry and on our way to St. John for the day. Two thirds of that island is a National Park and it lives up to expectations. 35% road grades, stunning vistas, hidden beaches, and Bob the Pirate at the Skinny Legs bar just really had us realizing that we were not in Kansas anymore.
However getting our car to do this exploring was not as easy as one might have thought. "No problem mon! Just get off the boat and choose a car rental.. it'll all be ok boy-o!" Well an hour later, lots of rejection (couldn't even get a scooter!) I finally pulled out the stops and sweet talked the lovely lady at OConner's car rental (fully recommended - she's a sweetheart) and we were safely strapped into the brand new 4-door Jeep Wrangler.

A long day of driving down one lane roads, hanging on the beach with the wedding and exploring the little down around the boat docks and our day was complete. Suffice it to say, roots seem to be setting in.. I'm sure I'm going to have several wives calling me to find thier husbands soon when we all decide to cash it in and run a sailboat charter business :-)
OK.. I'm off to get some food, I'll write more later!
