Day 20:

Another bus to Jakarta airport...flight to Yogyakarta...and another taxi later we arrived in Yogyakarta! I am Steve Martin and Vikki is John Candy (probably the other way round actually with my big bum!). After another mission around the hotels on Soloblahblah street we found a cheap hotel down the back streets...ok in the end although we were determined to change but Vikki the penny pincher came out! Stopped at Merapi Hotel but it was a very good deal (a/c, hot water which aren't always the norm here). Headed out for tea...at this point the evil had spread back to me....and even I could only manage basic food...soup for 2!! The street was pretty cool though with various bars and restaurants that we could only dream of enjoying one night...far in the future when the relms of normal stomachs would return one day...one day!!

Had a nice night of cold sweats which I thought was a real treat.

Day 21:

After another ritual of traveling the night before we arranged travel to the next destination and messed around for a few hours. Weather...HOT!!! Vikki had come through her storm for now but I was being battered!! Headaches this time. Wandered down the main street to get hassled by every one and his dog...went to the Batik Art Centre which is apparantly only open twice a week and no one ever goes...we got told by 3 people how to find the 'secret' place! Actually it wasn't easy to find and the bloke was surprised we had found it. We were shown how to make Batik art (although I realised half way through that I had been taught this at school...I thought of telling the art tutor but I thought this would steal his thunder that a lad from Wigan knew his mysterious and ancient art form!!) Vikki bought a few pics...and I didn't have the strength to argue!! Pretty good though!! Headed off to look at the palace and after contradicting stories of whether it was open or not it was indeed closed. Headed off to the old palace (water palace) which was basically loads of ruins and old buildings. Some bloke showed us the way and then carried on showing us round...we were onto his game after the second sight (well I was). Really good old ruins and a view over the city...old swimming pools which look better than they sound (not Wigan International Baths in 50 years!). Bloke then took us to his brothers house..??..and tried to sell us some Batik art and sarongs I kindly refused as I know how to make that myself and we 'stormed' out of the house. Gave the old bloke some money for showing us around which he didn't look impressed with!! ah well!

Found a cool internet and restaurant just round the corner and went overboard on the food...carried away with all the excitement of feeling OK. We would pay!!!

I felt rough and Vikki spent most of the night in the toliet!!  Nuff said

Day 22:

After missing the palace the day before we went early to take in the palace...it was Ok worth the effort...but only warranted the half an hour we had which was fine by us.

Prambanan

Then headed out on a full day trip to see the main sights in Java..Prambanan..BIG Hindu temple. Awesome old ruins it was raining but eased off. Can't say much more apart from look at the pics.

Then in the afternoon we headed to the Buddist temple called Borobodur on the same trip. Another awesome temple...these are the two main temples in Indonesia. See the pics!

Went out for tea and took it easy and got ready for the next leg of travelling! This was part of the international week of travel that started in Lake Toba and would end in Bali. Travelling through half of indonesia in a week!
