Our last day, lots of things left to do, but we decide to stay closer to home and mostly indoors. The day before had been our only day when we stayed outside the ocean all day. Didn't want to repeat that, so early morning we heading to the pacific and took an hour long swim.
I had always wanted to learn to surf and since no one else was interested, I headed alone. There was a beach optimal to learn surfing about 15 minutes walk and there would be trucks parked in the parking lot acting as shops for professional lessons. I registered with one called Maui Beach Boys and got a 2 hour lesson. My instructor has 7 students under him, all first timers. He was pretty good though. I stood on the board on the third attempt and had a few real good tries. It was exciting to be able to surf, but also really tiring. Finally after a few bruises and a minor sprain in my ankle, I called it a day, a successful day at that. The walk back wasn't fun with all the injuries, salt water and burning sun. To add to it, they almost lost my t-shirt, it took 15 minutes to find it.
it was a good finale to a great vacation

Back home, we rested, watched TV and enjoyed the vacation. Later in the afternoon, after a short nap we headed out to this very nice bar about 20 minutes walk from our condo. We sat there a long time, it had a great view and fine drinks. Once it got a little dark, we walked back, changed and then headed for our final dinner in Maui. It was a simple Thai place, not much was open on Christmas eve and we weren't planning for a grand dinner.
That was pretty much the end of the trip. The next morning we'd get up early and head to the airport. We connected in Honolulu and it was a pleasant surprise that the Honolulu-Seattle flight was a A 330 with personal entertainment system, it was a good finale to a great vacation.
