'And I find myself on the mountainside, where the rivers change direction across the Great Divide.'

Climbing climbing climbing! Slow and steady. I can’t tell you how it feels to be back in amongst the mountains. If I could just capture the smell of the forest and the trees for you. It is like coming home, though these forests haven’t been my home for 20 years. That smell has given me a new energy, but all the while making me feel so relaxed. There was about 5 miles of dirt and gravel where they’re doing road construction during the week and a man in one of their 'follow me' trucks offered me a ride, but I was feeling so good I turned him down. Just as I got to the top and took this picture it started to rain. Later it turned into hail for a few minutes. That hurt. When I got to the Togwatee Lodge I decided to stay and dry and thaw out. It's a beautiful place- mostly booked for a wedding party. I ate dinner in the bar, contributed a few songs to the juke box, wrote in my journal and watched the laughter and tears and merriment of the wedding and drank a local microbrew. Oh hooray to be back in the west!
