We picked up the motor home last night and got soooo lucky, they had a 23 footer for us. We had reserved a 28 footer – but really wanted a 23’er. For a couple of reasons, more maneuverable, easier to drive and less expensive helps too. We took this as a good omen that things would work out well for the trip. Please say a prayer that this is true.
Are we there yet??
We packed up quickly and avoided the eventual rain – the forecast called for it to rain just when we were loading up. To our astonishment we fit everything into a 23’er and were not bursting at the seams. One big storage difference is that in a 28’er the queen size bed in the back lifts up and provides a HUGE amount of storage. Still we were able to fit and didn’t leave anything behind.

Last time we rented an RV “R” was just an infant and we were taking along all the infant gear (stroller, excersaucer, cases of pampers, etc.) we really needed the bigger unit. Glad that we fit in the smaller this time.
Our plan was to leave by 8am Saturday morning – we were rolling before 9 – a perfect accomplishment – of course we only made it to the local bagel store – where we stopped and grabbed breakfast and did some quick rearranging as we saw the load inside was going to shift after all and figured out some more details about the RV.

Our trip to New Hampshire was uneventful. No traffic, and two quick stops to use the facilities. We arrived at Aunt Carolyn’s and Uncle Jays around 3pm and the only issue was some minor rain along the way.
We were toasting a safe trip by 4pm – Aunt Carolyn noted that it was 5 o’clock somewhere. The girls as usual were very happy to see C n J. We enjoyed a BBQ (until the rain forced the chef inside). R/ noted that she likes being at someone’s house because it made her “feel fun”.

K/ had some learning --- it seems she hits her head on the drivers side of the RV more than the passenger side. The kids are sleeping in the “loft” above the drivers seat and there is 2 feet of clearance there. R/ seems to fit OK but K/ is learning about headaches.
The first night in the RV went OK. We did have some rain and Mom thought she heard it dripping inside – but never found the source of the leak. R/ seemed to think it was too dark and needed to climb down and walk through the RV to Mom and Dad (yes we don’t know how she could see to do that). The addition of one more made sleeping a bit tough – but K/ said she was glad because it seems R/ had found a warm place for her toes in K’s/ arm pit and apparently that kept K/ from sleeping.
