Greetings from the island of Mljet. Also known as the green island. Mljet is accessible from Dubrovnik by fast a fast ferry boat. It is also a UNESCO protected preserve, designated as a national park. The island is 72% covered by think forests. Most of the island is an untouched and unspoiled forest. Mljet is known as one of the loveliest and most densely wooded islands in the Adriatic. Mljet has an astonishing coastline as well as a spectacular interior. Thick forests with incredible fauna, lush vegetation and two Chrystal clear turquoise blue lakes that are wonderful for swimming. The lakes are know as natural phenomenons, unlike me! The inhabitants are known for producing wine, olive oil and medicinal herbs. The beaches make an amazing contrast with the steep rocks, caves and cliffs. The Romans used the island as a place of exile. (don't get any ideas!) It was briefly owned by the kings of Bosnia, and Dubrovnik obtained it in 1333. Please enjoy some Pictures
