Afternoon in Ao Nang

Having returned from Ko Lanta in time for lunch I had the afternoon at my disposal. I was accompanied by a young Frenchman so had another opportunity to put my long-lost linguistic talents to the test. Decided, despite the torrential rain that had accompanied us most of the way back from Lanta, to head over the Ao Nang, the closet beach to Krabi, near to Railay, for the afternoon. Glad we did in fact. The weather cleared up and we had a good walk through the touristy bit of the town, then along the beach southwards to the edge of the limestone peaks which cut Railay off from Ao Nang by road. We walked to the end of the beach and then along a boardwalk which took us up above the beach and then down again onto a private beach belonging to a hotel (which luckily allows people to visit). A really enjoyable afternoon watching the waves and the sun moving slowly towards the horizon. Also had some good views of the small limestone islands off the coast, and Geogrpahy geek took some photos of the Tsunami warning and evacuation signs for use as possible future teaching resources!!
