After our tour of London, we took the train to Bristol to visit our best friends Melyssa, Ahmed, and Mako Evans. We were greeted by Ahmed at the train station, the image of a proud father. Back at the Evan's home we were welcomed by Melyssa, and had our introduction to Mako.  Mako is their first child, and the 3 of them make a lovely family. He is definitely a cutey with big blue eyes and his Daddy's nose. He was barely 3 weeks old when we arrived, and we were a little hesitant to hold him at first.  Within a day we got over our fears and did what we could to be helpful to our friends. The baby routine was pretty dependable: feed, burp, nap, poop, cry, repeat.

We spent most of our time in Bristol relaxing with Melyssa and Ahmed, playing with Mako, and catching up on TV.  Of course we also enjoyed the company of their other kids, Choco, Snoop, and Sierra.  We did a couple of walks and chatted about our old jobs and shared times in Louisiana.  We weren't too compelled to run around and sight see, but instead spent time with our friends, cooking meals together and catching up.  While we were there, Ahmed returned to work in the Gulf of Mexico (for a 6 week hitch) and Michael and I did our best to help Melyssa and Mako before they would be left to themselves after our departure.  Melyssa was keeping herself busy planning their summer trips, a move back to the states, and the trials of breastfeeding.

I was amazing to see how much Mako had changed in as short as 10 days.  We look forward to following his growth from Melyssa's updates, and to see the little guy again at the end of our trip.  We definitely felt like we could handle parenting soon enough after this experience (we'll see!). Thanks again Melyssa, Ahmed, and Mako, for sharing your home with us!
