We got up early to beat the heat and the tourists and arrived there just before 7am. We quickly made our way up the winding siq to get shots of the treasury with our people in. The treasury was amazing; the colours running through the rock were stunning. After snapping ours shots we carried on up to the monastery, my favourite part. As my knees weren’t too good I rode a donkey up the hill, while Marc walked behind. The buildings at Petra aren’t as much buildings as huge facades carved into the rock. As we were leaving Petra, after visiting tombs and the high place, the sun was at the right point to make the rocks glow red. It was beautiful; I guess that’s why it’s called the Rose Red City. We caught a horse and cart back to the beginning and had a good chat to its Bedouin driver.
