Ilari's summer cottage

After weeks of deciding when Ilari and I would go to his family's summer cottage, the weekend finally came.

Saturday afternoon after Ilari's morning shift at work, we headed off to Orivesi which is where the cottage was. The drive there was eventful, the scenery was breathtaking and a little worrying at times :)

So we arrived in Orivesi around 6:30 o 7pm (to be honest I really can't remember) and we got our things out of the car and Ilari showed me where things were.

We settled down and organized dinner for the night. Actually I think we were on the menu for the mosquitoes all weekend as they wouldn't leave us alone at all!

I didn't get to sleep much that night due to being eaten alive by the mosquitoes, however Ilari was able to sleep through it all... lucky bugger!

The next day we went to Tampere which is like a 30 minute drive from Orivesi. It was nice to go there and see what the city looked like. Ilari showed me the sights and we just walked around looking at things and finding me a toilet :)

I was so proud when I saw my national flag being hung at the Tampere Hall and naturally I just had to take a picture of it!

We headed back to Orivesi where we went for a short walk and just hung out at the cottage. I was able to experience a real Finnish sauna (which I will add was GREAT) and then head to the lake :)

It was a great short trip away and I hope to go back there again, but next time I will be prepared with the mosquito repellent!!
