I then went to visit my friend from Belgium that I had met at London Calling! his name was Jasper and when I got to his place I told him my great granfather fought in the war somewhere near the belgium Border, he said " are you sure it`s not here in Passchendale, this is where most soldiers died during the second world war!" I didn`t know the name of the place , so I called up my gran-mother, she comfirmed the name of the place, and told me what had happen to him when he was in the trenches! He was constantly walking in the wet mud and his foot got infected!

after a while it got so bad that gangrene set in. he was taken back to england sometime in july 1917 and once he was there they cut off his leg that was in an advanced state of decay!

My great gran-father was taken to england in july 1917 and they cut off his leg that was gangrened!

Well when I visited the War Memorial the Next Day there`s one thing that really caught my attention, and that was the date of which the soldiers died, most of which were november 1917! because before that date, hardly any combat had happen yet.

than I got thinking, what would have happen if he had not gotten that gangrene chances are he could have been killed in the heavy battles of November 1917!
