We sailed into Lintz and took a day trip to Salberg. Salzberg is a beautiful city and I was surprised at how big it was. I was picturing a quaint, small town and it is not that small. It was surprisingly warm the day we arrived and we went to see the beautiful cathedral, the birthplace of Mozart and then we roamed the Christmas market. There were children ice skating on a man made rink and it was a wonderful day. We saw the abbey where Maria von Trapp was a novice and also walked through the cemetary which was quite beautiful. There is also a plaque dedicated to Oskar Schindler who spent the later part of his life in Austria.

After visiting Salzberg we headed back to our ship which had sailed on to Passau where we would meet it. We stopped in the small town where Silent Night was written and we walked along the river that separates Germany and Austria. We went into the church and were treated to a trio which sang Silent Night for us.
