After our whirlwind escapade to get onto the train headed for Munich, we got a taste of what Oktoberfest was going to be like. About an hour outside of Munich, the train filled up with men, women, and children all dressed up in traditional German attire: lederhosen. The train was so packed that it was standing room only. However, no one seemed to mind. Everyone was in high spirits as they were sipping their beers, warming up for the festival to come.

We stayed at this place called "The Tent." It was a huge tent that had about 300 bunkbeds in it. There was also a large grassy area that was full of campers. We recruited a fellow "tenter" to join us to experience Oktoberfest. Once we arrived at the festival, we couldn't find an open seat, so we asked a nice beer wench to help us find some and she led us to a table where we sat next to three college age Münchens. With a quick 'Prost' we were friends and spent the rest of the day together. For those of you who don´t know, Oktoberfest has beer tents and fair rides. In my opinion, that isn't the greatest combination in the world. But one of our new German friends insisted that we go on a rollercoaster that had five loops...needless to say he didn´t feel so hot afterwards.

We returned the next day to get some of the fabulous food. Matt got a roasted chicken and I got my saurekraut and brauts. All in all Oktoberfest was an experience and we can´t wait to go back to explore more of the city.
