(Nicks story).  We got to Jinja and into a backpackers.  It was very basic but good staff.  The reason for getting here was to see the Source of the Nile and to White Water Raft.  On Friday we spent 6 hours on the Nile, going through Grade 5 Rapids (you extreme athletes know that these are the wildest).  It was a fantastic experience, not just for the rapids, but for the 6 hours drifting down, seeing kids in the water, fishing, bathing, swimming....flashing!

Perhaps a highlight of the day was when we jumped in to the Nile and drifted down for about 5 minutes and looking back at some of the rapids that we had just come through.

"Get down, Get down!"

Another fantastic and again, exhausting day, finished with a great barbeque and a hot shower.  Somehow I stayed up and watched the US Masters for an hour...so a really great day!

(Ronnie's story) The Bujagali Falls trip entailed 12 major rapids along a 30km stretch of the Nile River.  I had never been whitewater river rafting before so there were some major butterflies in my stomach on the morning of our trip.  Before every major rapid, our guide would scream "get down, get down!"...so no one fell out of the raft. And because of his expert navigation, we did not flip even once...to the disappointment of some people in our raft.  After experiencing my first 2 or 3 rapids, I was able to actually open my eyes and watch the waves come crashing down on us... fantastic!

During the trip, we had some mellow time where we could jump into the water, which was the perfect temperature, and float happily along.  Some of the best parts of the day involved watching the village life- men fishing, the women washing the clothes and children bathing and playing in the water. All in all a fantastic day that involved some major upper body aches the next day.
