First game, rockies vs. marlins

Finally arrived in Denver.  Chris and I both agree that for the most part Utah and Wyoming are pretty boring.  Salt Lake City looked pretty nice.  I totally understand why the Mormons stopped there.  It is the only part of Utah that doesn't look completely desolate and horrible.

The quote of the drive had to be Chris talking to his friend Erin about going to his parents for Christmas.  Chris: "I don't know if I'm going to go, I just don't feel like traveling that much".  Which seemed very appropriate since we were on day two of a 16 day treck across the country.  Oh well....

Getting ready to head out to our first game.  We'll give the update on how Coors Field is later on.

Coors Field is awesome!  The entire area around the stadium is very cool.  Lots of great restaurants/bars/shops to check out.  Chris and I both agreed that we thought the Rocky Mountains were going to be a lot rockier though.  We could see some of the hills from the stadium, but frankly nothing that rocky.

The game was good, Rockies beat down the Marlins 11-0, and Todd Helton hit is 300th career home run.  Matt Holiday also had a monster day going 4 for 5 with a home run.  The only bummer part about the game was a lightning delay.  But it only lasted about 20 minutes and watching the lightning was pretty cool.  We watched the rest of the game from an overhang right above the bullpens.  Really nice spot to watch the game, and kept us out of the weather.  Plus we got on TV for about 3 seconds because we were right above the strikeout (K) signs that they put up for Rockies pitchers strikeouts.

We met Amanda & Derek (the people nice enough to take us in in Denver) for dinner at the Breckinridge Brewery.  Tasty food, and tasty beer.  It was the first real meal that we had since Friday (which may be why it tasted so good).  We then took off to drive as far as we could to try and get across Kansas.  More to come from Missouri.
