Ola from Laguna San Rafael
This web site couldn't find this location on the map. But we are south of Chacabuco.
Ola from Laguna San Rafael
This is a national park covering 6,726 sq. miles. and includes the Northern Patagonian Ice Field. We "jumped" from our ship (anchored in the middle of the ocean) onto a catamaron that took us from the ocean through a river to the Laguna San Rafael - which is like a lake. We sailed through floating ice bergs which are called blue ice - they are really blue as a result of no oxygen. They have broken off the main glacier. which abuts the lake. We didn't see any wild life, other than birds, but it was pretty amazing to see the glacier. The water temp here is from 1to 5 centigrade. It's getting colder and colder as we go more south.
