We drove back to Anchorage from Seward after driving to Exit Glacier.  This is a glacier that you can hike to from the visitor center.  Jimmy hiked to the glacier and took photos for us to see.  Beth and Jim visited with the Rangers at the vistors center and stayed out of the rain.  The ice was a turquoise color and very impressive especially close up.

On the drive back to Anchorage, we stopped at the Alaska Wildlife Center and drove through.  They have woods bison, moose, bears, elk, sitka deer, caribou, and a bald eagle.  All the animals had been rescued in Alaska.

As we arrived back in Anchorage we saw something we had not seen for a while. Blue sky and the sun!!! It was glittering off the new snow on the mountaintops.  We are back at Anchorage RV Park, which will be our base for a couple of days.  We saw the fox again as we drove in to the RV Park.

We understand that the road from Denali to Anchorage is now closed due to flash flooding and will be closed for 3-5 days.  Also the road from Fairbanks to Valdez is also closed.

We are high and semi-dry and will keep an ear open for road closings.

Today we slept in and then went to the Native Alaskan Heritage Center which was very interesting.  The center has a section set aside for each of the Native Alaskan groups to showcase their heritage.  Beth and Jimmy walked around the lake behind the center to see exhibits of each groups homes.  We also saw a Chupik dance group demonstrating native dances.

On the weather front, its still raining but not as intensively as Friday.  We got an Anchorage paper today that shows the flash flooding to the North and West of us.  We came through that area on Thursday and the floods were Friday.  Wow!  The story in the Anchorage paper is at www.adn.com .

This evening we put Jimmy on the plane heading home.  He will be stopping in Chicago and Washington, DC before getting home tomorrow afternoon.  We had a lot of fun with Jimmy and will miss his comments.
