More commercial but nice caribbean beach town
From Travel 2005/2006 in Puerto Viejo de Limon, Costa Rica on Nov 29 '05
Still travelling with Stan. Stayed in a small hostel in the centre of town, which was cool. Did the usual walking around town and on the beach during the day, and at night relaxed with the people in the hostel, whilst hanging from hammocks.
The next day, Stan, I and an Irish Guy and American girl we met, hired bicycles for the day and went riding through the lush greenery and along the beach and reached another town, where we went trekking in the forest on the beach, before coming back and relaxing on the beach. That evening, I went out to a bar with a guy from the hostel and watched a movie there. It was a strange day in terms of accommodation, as the hostel owner told us that he didn't realise he had a reservation for our room for that day. He said we could move to the (very bad) dorms, which we agreed to, out of necessity. When we got back in the evening, the dorm beds were all given away too!!!!!!!!!! We, ended up borrowing a tent, and sleeping bags from other travellers in the hostel, and slept on the grass outside. It was not as bad as I expected though, but it was damn hot and then started raining on us. Good experience!!
“Very touristy but nice beaches and alot to do.”
