We landed at about 4pm in the middle of the desert in gaming heaven!! They even had slots in the airport!! We made a beeline for the baggage claim and made the 15 min taxi ride to our hotel ($15). En route, we drove straight down the strip, which took in the New York, New York hotel, MGM Grand (with giant lion statue outside) and the swanky Bellagio hotel. Our hotel was pretty nice too, with practically everything under one roof! 10 pin Bowling, buffets, slots, casino, more slots, pool, spa, gym, widescreen tv in room, etc, etc.

The third day there we flew to the Grand Canyon, where i took far too much video out of the plane window, as i was convinced that propellor planes are not a safe mode of travel in windy conditions and this took my mind off that!! We just about landed safely in sub zero temperatures, and skidded noticeably at the end of the icy runway! One girl had obviously not done her homework and had turned up in flip-flops (though she was English, and probably did feel warm despite the snow). The views atop the canyon were stunning, and cannot quite be captured in photos or video. We had a nice lunch and returned back safely (and relieved!) on terra ferma.

On the gambling front, we started off really well as we turned $40 into $250 on the second night, which kept me going until pretty much the last night! Spent much less that we thought we would, to be fair! Lorna just about removed herself from the roulette table on the final night and we took the transfer to Los Angeles to fly to our next stop - Hawaii.
