The plane journey was reasonably quick, considering it was 12 hours, with a fantastic lightening display ! We stayed in the Shangri-La. Amazing... we received complimentary jasmine tea to welcome us, in true Asian style. We then went off to explore the sights of Orchard Road. Quite boring though as all the shops were the same as the ones in England. So we bought a bus ticket on the Sia hop on hop off bus to see the surrounding area. 1st stop - Little India., to be greeted with a dead body on the road. We both decided at this point to wait for the green man before crossing the roads!!! Little India was slightly grotty but was very colourful, smelling of incense. Quite a contrast to the city. 2nd stop - Raffles, and the much anticipated Singapore sling in the long bar with monkey nuts all over the floor. Tasted delicious but jet lag was starting to kick in, I started speaking gibberish, making involuntary body movements and had a feeling of being on a very rocky boat!... most odd. Funnily enough, the 'sling' did nothing to help this feeling! 3rd stop ice cream by the river, a bum boat ride and a look at Merlion - a big statue of a lion spurting water. By this point Nickers and myself were both feeling tired, so we headed for the boat key for dinner. A great atmosphere. 15hours sleep later, we headed off for Sentosa via the MRT - clean efficient and most importantly air conditioned! We travelled across to the Island via cable car - beautiful, but an experience never to be repeated!!! Especially when on the return journey it STOPPED and left us hanging! Soooo scary. The island however was stunning. I have never experienced anything like it. We made the most of a flying visit by swimming in the sea... gorgeous sandy beach with palm trees. Bliss!!! Then unfortunately it was back to the hotel to check out and go to airport for next leg of trip. The airport was amazing - cactus gardens, orchids, free internet, live music and most importantly a free foot massage!!!
