We made it to Chicago in about 11 hours. Our hotel is really nice and we are right in the mix of everything. It just so happened that the "Taste of Chicago" is going on this week and Meg and I found ourselves there before we knew it. It is located in Grant park which was an $8 cab ride from our hotel. I would explain the taste as being a mix of the taste of Syracuse and the NY State Fair. We walked around and seemed to taste more beer than food. This thing is located between the water and the city which provides for an amazing sight to see. I would have to say that our favorite part was this amazing cover band that was playing there. We happened to find them by accident and loved EVERY second of it. All they did was 80's songs. To be honest with you, the 80's scare the hell out of me, but we knew EVERY song that they played. I almost fell over when the lead singer (who had a striking resemblance to Gerry Macnamara) asked the crowd ho had ever seen the movie "Back to the future" I was jumping up and down spilling beer and food all over Meg and the homeless guy with the 80's t-shirt next to me...because I knew what song he was going to play next. (Power of love) Man..I will tell you these guys rivaled Supergush. After "the taste" as the locals call it, we made our way back to near the hotel to a couple local recommended establishments that housed young thrill seeking people like ourselves and Meg and I reminisced about the wedding over a bowl of peanuts and a cold beer for a couple hours. We are going to walk all over Chicago today and maybe hit the beach. Tomorrow we are off west again. Our goal is to make it to the Bad Lands National Park. It is quite a hike. We will be without internet service until we make it to San Francisco, but we will update you all again. Hope everyone is well.
