There's a factory somewhere that they make resort towns like this. In Europe we have Ibiza, Falaraki, Tenerife, Costa del sol. Here in America they have Cancun and the Playa del Carmen and Tulum. To be fair though to these places there is a demand for the "theme" of these places.

Playa del Carmen is a resort town and is a nice place to come and chill out on the beach during the day or partake in some watersports. In the evening there are lots of bars to party the night away in. So Jo and I went with the crowd and did whateveryone else was doing.

One area was playing hard house/trance/dance and the other area was playing more mainstream dancey type stuff. At one stage the music cut out and club was entertained by one of the best fire juggling acts I've ever seen. Truely amazing!

Both of the days that we were here we spent down at the beach walking around, sunbathing and people watching. There was tonnes of places to eat and drink along the front of the beach and it was nice to get up and go and grab an ice cold beer every now and then.

In the evening we joined the rest of the group that we'd been travelling through Mexico with and headed for a bar next to the Blue Parrot bar. I can't remember the name of the place, I only remember that they had a promotion on drinks for  $1 but it was a rip off as they didn't put any grog in their drinks. I'm going to refer to it as Rip Off Bar Next To The Blue Parrot or ROBNTTBP. There was a couple of Americans in ROBNTTBP who got up and started to dance very extrovertly by themselves, while they were cheered on by their friends from the sidelines. We Brits don't generally do that sort of thing. We just feel silly. Howevery the couple on the dancefloor did provide us with a great deal of entertainment, and amuzement! Also the the guy who was serving us tried to add about $50 in tips on to the bill. After the whole group had complained we paid up (and didn't tip the con man who was sevring us) and headed for the Blue Parrot Bar.

This place was much better. A very cool place full of cool people, I don't think dancey American couple were allowed in. They had 2 areas that were playing music. One area was playing hard house/trance/dance and the other area was playing more mainstream dancey type stuff. At one stage the music cut out and club was entertained by one of the best fire juggling acts I've ever seen. Truely amazing! All the girls had been mithering the lads to dance with them for a fortnight and here they had us cornered so up we got for a boogie (on a crowded dance floor though)

Playa del Carmen is a really nice, clean, friendly, fun place and well worth a visit but I was glad to move on to the next place after a couple of days.
