Through Tupiza Tours, I organized a brief 3-hour ride through the surrounding area. I would have loved to have ride a bit longer, but with my sandals and quick dry pants, I don´t think I would have survived a whole day.
With the help of my guide George (Hor-hey), I trotted and even galloped beyond the Puerta del Diablo (the Devil´s gate) an amazing rock formation that is one of a wide variety of geological sights. The whole area is gorgeous and full of history. (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid saw their last days in the area).
Amazing Scenery....off to the Desert Tomorrow.

We also hiked a bit through Inca Canyon where we also met an nice woman from German who has been living in Argentina for a while. Although an experienced rider, her young horse took off on her. Fortunately, my guide helped her find her way back to town while I hung around on my own and pretended I was a cowboy.
Took some money out on my CC at a local bank that closed at 12pm (boy, do I miss 24-7 ATMs and the efficiency of the Canadian banking system). Enjoyed a lot of walking around the various markets and at the end of the day, organized my trip the next day, four days in the desert ending in Uyuni ($100 US). Many tourists start in Uyuni, but I was told that this is a superior route as you don´t backtrack on the last day. Also, there is a supposed to be a sort of crescendoing of scenery throughout the trip with the Uyuni Salt Pan as the final highlight. Alternate routes are to go from Uyuni and finish on the Chilean border. Can´t wait!
