In Denmark with the family
From NZ,AUS, Fiji and US with newborn and toddler in tow in Denmark, Australia on Feb 16 '07
Today was a great day. I went round my cousin's place, which was a truly wonderful home. I was extremely envious of the peace she has got there, it was my idea of paradise. No neighbours overlooking, loads of trees around, and a driveway to beat all driveways. It seemed to me my cousin and her husband had found their sanctuary, and were both very happy.
We went to Denmark for fish and chips. Matthew had a great time in the park, mostly throwing sand around. He definitely is a much better climber now, and navigated the slide well. It was worrying at times watching him, as he could easily have fell, but nice also to let him discover. The fish and chips were gorgeous, a perfect lunch time treat. I dont know why we dont eat fish and chips outside more in the UK, will make a point of doing it when I return. Steve tries to give Matthew coca-cola which doesnt go down well with me. All I need is a hyperactive 2 year old!

The afternoon/evening are spent with the family, culminating in a wonderful roast lamb meal at my cousin's. Matthew enjoyed the butternut squash, his appetite beginning to return at last. Lloyd wasnt happy in the afternoon, having a bit of a crying episode. Not sure why, think he is just fed up at being moved around all the time. At least Lloyd is more awake though, and feeding well.
If I lived in Denmark I would be an alcoholic, there are so many wineries around (34 according to the guide). We have a bottle of Harewood wine, it tastes so much nicer knowing it is local. Im not sure if the wine affects me, but I start to feel quite choked at the generosity and kindness of the family around me. No, it isnt the wine, even as I write this I again feel a tear in my eye. This truly is a wonderful set of people.
