It took about nine hours to get to Wilmington from Orlando. We were pretty lucky when it came to traffic and cops- no tickets and no major back ups. As we got closer to Wilmington and off of Rt 95 we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere. We would pass another person or house every couple of miles, which is something completely different than living in Baltimore. As we come across a more populated area we are apparently approaching the school Sam tells me. We see the campus and it is tiny in comparison to Maryland, but still pretty. We are staying with some of Sam's boyfriend's friends for the weekend, but it's ok because I can sleep anywhere.

We get to their house and it's not on the waterfront, but close enough for easy access to the social scene. Apparently the reason why we are here is for Sam's friend Holden's 25th birthday- and she loves the beach bars and wanted to celebrate here. I have never been to a "beach bar" and am excited for the experience and to see what a small college town is like.
Small College Town...
We hang out with the boys for a little while and claim couches to sleep on for the evening. We head to a bar called 22 North where Sam wants to hang out with some of her friends that are boys tonight, because tomorrow night is girl night with Holden. The bar was pretty crowded because school had just come back into session this week- nobody had school work yet and everyone was trying to catch up. The crowd however was not very friendly, people here were happy with the friends they had and were not trying to meet new people. It was ok though, because I am comfortable talking with people so I went and introduced myself. We headed back via taxi at about 2 a.m. and cuddled into our couches.

The next morning Sam and I had to work on a paper for our class. We knew we wouldn't get any work done at the boys' house, so we set out to find the local library for some quiet. It was however actually relatively crowded, way more crowded than my local library at home has ever been. We finished as much as we could for the morning and went to the grocery store to grab some food for the boys since they were letting us stay and to make some snacks for the party tonight. Sam and I were going to go to the party, but probably not the bars again since our funds were limited and we were leaving at 4 a.m. tomorrow.

We get dressed and head to the party near the beach for Holden- it was a nice group of about twenty people. This was a much more socially friendly crowd than the bar scene the night before- and there were good party appetizers. It was a great relaxing evening to end our little get away and prepare for the open road yet again tomorrow.
