Christmas in China?

After such a long night and many a long journey my Christmas present to myself was to sleep all day and enjoy a relaxing evening.

After much needed sleep I headed next door to Lisa's Cafe and enjoyed another BBQ meal. Some people were there from the night before and I had some tea and we talked for a while. Two Chinese girls, Fion and Julie, were there and we talked and talked. It was really great talking with them. They went to school in nearby Guilin at the school I had visited a couple days before. They are both just finishing their studies, but, would like to continue at a Masters level. We talked about many things and shared so much about our different cultures and what we liked to eat and what we would like to do in the future. Their English was amazing and I was truly impressed. They were truly nice people and I hope for the best for them in their futures. It was a wonderful way to end Christmas day.

While this day was not my idea of Christmas it was a nice day and I will never forget it.

It was strange to be away from home on Christmas; and to be in China. But, I think it is times like this on my journey that I can truly appreciate what I have back at 'home'. What I have and can look forward to going home to....
