So i Left Melbourne on Sunday on a pretty good vibe. I was riding along the river and got to see Pearl Jam and Jet perform on a small platform on the river, for an audience of roughly 200. I set of late Sunday to Adelaide, which was a pretty annoying journey, only for the fact 2, 16 year old girls where loving my accent, so they where asking me through the night to say 'stuff in English' . 12 hours of 'say this, say that' later i arrived early doors in Adelaide. The place was dead and i didnt have a clue where any youth hostels were or anything for that matter. I wen't into one hostel and the bar was still open (7, monday morn), to which 6 guys where having a masive punch up. I quickly ran off down the road, and found a pretty nice hostel where i still reside.

The Hostel, in fact all of Adelaide really, is full of Germans. I am in a dorm with 9 German girls at the moment, and as good as that sounds fellas, the laungauge is quite harsh, and only a few have opened up to me. Out of 200 people in this hostel, 198 at present are German. Some of the German guys here a really nice and friendly guys though.I have been chilling alot with a guy called ingo (what other reason is there for me to be hanging out with him). He is a table tennis champ and has been killing me for four days strait. However he went mental when i beat him in one game, threw his bat to the floor and i didnt see him all night after.

Adelaide as a city is pretty bloody dead in comparison to Melbourne or in fact Feniton. Nothing really happens. There are no good places to visit (apart from the gallery and museum, which are both free and good for half an hour), no good pubs, or anything of that matter. It is really lacking something; people for a start. I have walked around the city so many times in the day/evening, but it seems like people come to work and go back home out of the main CBD.

The stretch of coastline about 4/5 miles out of the city is Adelaide's saving grace. There are pretty ports, clean beaches and trendy restaurants. I have been to the beach every day, thanks to the free bike hire in the hostel. The ride to the beach is a blast as well. We ride all along the picturesque river (only distinguishing feature of Adelaide), and have been skimboarding like heroes.

To put Adelaide into perspective, the hostel here has ' 101 great things to do in the city'. At 5 is the 'trip around the famous chocolate factory'. Me and and one of the German girls went, and it was the worst half an hour of my life- terrible terrible tour. May as well of gone into the back of mcdonalds and had a better time. At number 6 of great things to do, ' how about going to visit the biggest rocking horse in the country' -- i ran out of time - gutted. In case you were wondering highlights 1-4 are all beach orientated.

Hey Macca, I am an Adelaide local and it was with great amusement that I have read you Blog about Adelaide. I agree with you totally - THERE IS NOTHING TO DO HERE!. I have debates with my fellow Adelaidians about how boring this city is and finally, along you come an agree hhahaahaha. Enjoy the rest of your travels. Petrina
