We arrived in Sydney after a 13 hour over-night bus by Greyhound (that's probably going to be our last long bus journey for a while). We went to the Harbour City hostel as we had 2 free nights as part of our Peter Pan package. It's not a bad hostel, but when you arrive into a 10 bed and everyone's clothes & shit is everywhere it doesn't make a great first impression :o)

We've only a few days to explore Sydney so we quickly set out to do just that. We walked around Hyde Park before seeing the Opera House and crossing Sydney Bridge. We strolled around The Rocks before hitting some shops on Pitt & Geroge St. My camera got a soaking on WhitSundays so I managed to pick a new one up (Canon Ixus 60) for a good price. We had an easy night in the hostel giving our body a break from recent weeks. The next morning we continued taking the ferry to Manly and soaking up the sun on the beach. It was a beautiful day. 34 degrees. We enjoyed lunch at Darling Harbour before visiting Sydney Aquarium which is brilliant. The shark and oceanarium tanks are better than the Great Barrier Reef :o) The battery on my camera ran out, which I was gutted about, as the journey back to Circular Wharf at night is spectacular with the sky-scrapers, bridge and Opera House lit up. Next time :o)

First trip in Sydney for a few days. We'll be back for Christmas and New Years :o)

Bodil & Louise arrived into Sydney the next evening so we met up with them that night and had a few drinks. The backpackers bar side-bar is a cool place and is associated with Wake Up hostel (which looks excellent) but is booked out. The following day we explored Sydney with the girls taking in a few sights and getting some group photos. Another beautiful day. Our mate Shane Lundy is working in Sydney so we had some post-work drinks together. A great laugh reminiscing about the good times back home. We hit one or two bars getting home very late. We were feeling the effects going to the airport. So, that's our first visit to Sydney - we'll be back in one month for Christmas and New Years :o)
