So after 2 nights at a dingy hostel that was in the povo town of Calgary where you see so people selling dope in the frozen parks and backstreets and where you want to keep your head down and not make any eye contact with people at all. It was the day to finally move in to work accomodation and I was so glad to get the hell out and here is why:

Firstly on my first morning there I was hanging for a hot shower after so much travelling and waiting around and when I jumped into the shower, facing my body towards the shower head and twisted the hot water on full blast. I screamed my head off and started cursing at the showers because the water was so damn cold like it had been in the freezer all night. But then again, it was like -7 degrees outside. Anyway I stood in the corner of the showers for a few minutes and the water did not get any warmer so I jumped out with a shower.

Secondly, I slept in a 4 bed dorm and as I checked into my room on the first night and opened the door, this dude on the bed below mine(it was a bunk) snored like a mateing pig, he just went off(if I had a recorder I would have filmed it for evidence). I slept pretty alright anyhow with the snorning but during the night the dude would just mumble something and the snore again and I'm like what the? The second night was pretty much the same.

Thirdly, not really a reason why I wanted to move out of the hostel, but I was speaking to one Aussie dude there whos right leg was secured in brackets and I'm like "What did you do to your leg?" and unfortunately the poor bloke when out and got plastered the night before and as he was walking back to the hostel he slipped on ice(which was all over the footpath and everywhere) and buckled his knee(he had dislocated it once) so it was pretty easy for it to dislocate again. He had to go to the hospital and all, and yep he is working on one of the mountains so he won't have a great season here. Also another thing that happened to another Aussie in the hostel was that his wallet got stolen by one of the people he was sharing a dorm with. Suspect: American dude. As he was told that another American dude in his dorm woke up to this American dude rambling through his bag. So the next night, this Aussie dude woke up with no wallet, no money, no cards and only his passport. I guess things could have been way worse.

Anyhow back to getting picked up from Canada Olympic Park staff members(the place where I'd be working for the next 5 months)

Suprisingly enough there were like 15-20 people moving in with COP that day, and I was just one of them. As we got driven to our accomodation filled out some forms for work, then we got handed our keys and went to our units. The place where we are staying at is called Mount Royal College and it is where some people who attend the college will be staying as well. After discovering and inspecting every room, we found 2 individual rooms with internet connection, a phone a bathroom with a toilet and a roll of paper, in the kitchen a small pot a frying pan, a butter knife, 3 forks, 2 spoons, a spatula, a few glasses, a freezer, an electric stove and that was it. We had a lot of stuff to buy to start cooking, so the next few days were off to shopping. It was also my luck, the dude that lost his wallet. He is my room mate.
