Tube Strike & Work
From UK Part #2 in Charing Cross, United Kingdom on Sep 03 '07
So I’m at work... after leaving at 8 for a 9.30 start. Usually it would take 30mins max to get here but the very smart tube employees have decided to strike for 3 days!!!!
So everyone is left finding other ways to work bc there are only 3 out of 12 lines that are running and those are only running parts of their line as it is. The strike is bc the Metro Net company who maintains the underground has gone bust and people are going to lose their jobs. Fair enough I suppose but what about all the people who are trying to get to their job? So I’m at work... after leaving at 8 for a 9.30 start. Usually it would take 30mins max to get here but the very smart tube employees have decided to strike for 3 days!!!!
anywhoo so I’m sitting here at my new temp job with permission to surf the net bc my computer doesn’t work properly
Seriously 3 days is a bit much! A great threat to get what u want but I thought it wouldn't actually eventuate! Clearly i was wrong and haven’t experienced a London strike before lol.
And it's planned again for the same time next week if they don’t reach an agreement so that should be fun! NOT
My main reason for being annoyed isn’t so much the strike bc I can just get a bus then walk. I’m annoyed bc I paid for a more expensive weekly pass to use the tube and I’m stuck using the bus anyhow. what a waste of £10! I know that sounds silly but that's a hostel room in Europe for a night or if u find the right one, a cheap flight to Europe!
anywhoo so I’m sitting here at my new temp job with permission to surf the net bc my computer doesn’t work properly and I'm waiting for someone to come and fix it. so I’m getting paid to do nothing! LOVING IT!
PS my job is PA to the Marketing Director for the Global sector of a multinational company. Sounds cool hey!!! but it’s not that hectic yet here ;o)
so enjoy ur day! bc I will be... for now at least lol
