After a month travelling non-stop, we were very excited to be invited to the Parent's house of a friend of Claire's (I think that makes sense!). We drove up to the Bay of Islands and spent 3 days sleeping in a proper bed at Val's place. Val was fantastic and took us out on their boat. I'm very proud to say I caught my first fish, a big snapper! I wasn't very good at dealing with it once I'd caught it though, just kind of waved it around for a while until someone came and helped!! We also drove up to ninety-mile beach where we dug in the sand for phi-phis, went sandboarding on the huge dunes and drove very fast on the beach, great fun! We also hit the very top of New Zealand, Cape reinga, which was beautiful.

After a few days relaxing, we had to take the van back to auckland. It was sad saying goodbye to Claire, who was flying back to Sydney. I then hung out in Auckland for a few days, deciding what my next adventure would be...
