(nicks story).   loved da Es salaam...after 6 weeks in mozambique it was great o have a choice of food and a room with a/c.  But after three days we took the slow ferry across to Zanzibar and got the cheapest guest house (24 bucks) while we organized a car to explore.  Love Stone Town but ready to find the beaches.

(Ronnie's story)I love Stone Town... it just might be my favorite place yet! There are numerous narrow alleyways to wander through, beautifully craved wooden doors, fantastic opportunities to peek into shops and peoples' homes, an amazing array of restaurants and some of the best ocean views I have seen so far in Africa. Our first night we went to an Italian restaurant (which served mango and avocado salad and next door they served homemade ice cream!!!!) and watched the Swahili dhwo boats drift on a calm, turquoise sea.

Still hot....getting hotter

Stone Town is a magical place with the perfect blend of a culture, history and natural beauty... but its incredibly hot and humid. This is the hottest time of year in Zanzibar... even the locals are having a tough time sleeping.  Its time to leave town and head to the beach for a swim and perhaps a dive or two?
