2nd Leg - The Beauty of Banff and Beyond

On day 2, we left the hostel to have breakfast at Tim Hortons then we went to Adam's river to find Salmons. We saw a couple of Salmons swimming around and they were huge. It occured to me that I ate their relatives last week when we went to the Japanese retaurant to have Salmon Sashimi. They don't look appetizing swimming in the Adam's river. After taking a couple of pictures we left for Banff.

The scenery to Banff was spectacular. Although we spent most of the first 2 days in the bus, I hardly took a nap since it was difficult to peel my eyes off the road. The terrain was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Especially when we passed through some glaciers and snow capped mountains. There were stretches of trees, rolling green hills and crystal clear lakes.

I had a lot of firsts on the whole trip. First time travelling alone, first time staying in a hostel with strangers, first time on a long haul flight and Go Kart. WoW. I could not believe how fast I could go. Bump cars are history! Go Karts should replace bump cars in theme parks! For 15 minutes I rode non stop, rarely hitting the breaks. The need for speed! I don't know how fast I was going. But I did go off track more than twice. It was actually more fun to go off track! This ride would keep your adrenaline pumping and your heart beating so fast that you'd forget everything and focus your attention on the karts in front of you.

After riding the Go Karts somewhere in Revelstoke, we went to Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk and had a leisurely 1.2 km walk before proceeding to Rogers Pass visitor's center. In here you can learn about the discovery of the Rogers Pass which is used by the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Trans-Canada Highway. I think Roger's Pass is the heart of the Glacier National Park.

We made a stop at Emerald lake, one of the lakes in Yoho National Park. The color of the lake is of course Emerald as with most lakes I've seen in this whole trip. Liam said that all lakes (in Yoho?) were called Emerald lake because of their color. Even Lake Louise used to be called Emerald lake. I'm glad someone decided to change the names.

We also went to the Kicking Horse River, one of the mountain rivers, before entering Banff National Park and going up to our hostel. Everyone had dinner in the hostel because it was too late to be going into town.
