From New York it was onto Boston, I am going to try and record in this each major place I visit, if for no other reason that it gives me a record of the places that I have been to on my travels.

I don't think that I honestly saw enough of Boston, but actually I am fine with that as it's a place that I would definately return to another time, unlike New York which just felt like any cosmopolitan city, Boston had more Character to me.

Maybe it was that the buildings were better preserved and not lots of modern skyscrapers, not sure exactly which but that's the feeling it gave me.

One thing that struck me in both Boston and New York is how much effort goes into dressing up the towns for Christmas and New Year, their trees (as in those along the roads not specifically Christmas trees) are all wired with lights, the electric costs must be amazing but the effect is great.

Again, met up with a friend in Boston, (you guys are great fun to chat to as ever), and ate at a really nice restaurant, basically you pick the food and sauce that you want mixed together and then go stand at a large circular hot plate (for want of a better name) where 4 people are cooking approximately 4-5 meals a piece.

They take the food and cook it for you there and then as you wait, a very social way to eat  and very well done, shame I can't remember the name of the restautant... ahh well.

Boston has an interesting mix of new and older areas, you can see that they have preserved certain buildings very well and yet updated them, for example the street I stayed on (Newbury) was made up of what we in the UK would describe as Victorian style buildings.

Here some of them were residential and some were business based, but the businesses had all kept their shop fronts in keeping with the building styles, so they used the bay fronted windows as window displays etc.

Of course my favourite shop there was the tea shop (Cafe) that we were taken to, 80 varieties (I think) of tea of almost every conceivable choice, that comes with a nice little egg timer to let you know how long your tea should be allowed to brew (that part I found funny).

Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed Boston, one day I will definately go back, probably in the winter again so I can combine it with ski-ing, I really need to learn how to Ski again it's been so long...
