We drove down from the wineries and then found the place at Half Moon Bay  - I desperately needed a hot tub after our rafting adventure!  The room was great and the hot tub was wonderful.  The next morning we got up and went around the town and marina in Half Moon Bay before going down the coast to Santa Cruz.  Along the way we stopped at Pigeon Point Lighthouse State Park.  This is the lighthouse and hostel that Chuck and I stayed in 10 years ago on our cross-country trip.  I was pretty sure it was just south of Half Moon Bay, but my memory is so bad that I was not sure.  Anyway, we found it!!! It has fallen into some disrepair - in 2001 a bug chunk of the lighthouse fell off in a storm, so the State is trying to raise $$ to save the Lighthouse.  So, we immediately called Big Buck Chuck to alert him to the situation....

Santa Cruz was our next stop.  We were able to see the wharf and boardwalk, as well as, surfers all over the place.  We arrived that night in Santa Barbara.  The next day we drove from Santa Barbara to San Diego, with a short stop in Huntington Beach where we ran out of gas - yes ran out of gas!  So technically, the Ghia never broke down - the gas incident was operator error.  Who was operating the vehicle - Lars was of course...... We had a wonderful trip in the Ghia.  There is such beauty to the State of California and being able to experience it from a convertible is wonderful.  You feel every change in temperature, every smell (once you leave LA that smell is not smog/exhaust) of pines, strawberries, etc.  California is a diverse state and we encourage everyone to see beyond the OC and LA area to get an idea of the natural diverse beauty.
