Day 8 - the end of Croatia...
From Day 4 and 5 in Zagreb, Croatia on Aug 13 '06
+++++++
Now we've just finished our day in Zagreb. We sucessfully completed 2 walking tours of the city! I say this with extreme pleasure and satisfaction while Monica growls. Well, she did have bleeding big toes, growing heel cracks, a second degree burn... But hey, she liked it! Kind of..
Zagreb is a neat city. It is modern yet retains a historical feel. It is full of colourful buildings, parks, and public art. We-ve decided that we like cities more than small towns. Maybe it feels more familiar, or because there seemed like there was more going on and more to do. The people here have been generally more friendly and helpful too -what a nice change from the grumpy croatians we encountered earlier in our trip! one lady giving us our bus tickets even showed us how we could save money!! woooww... so to end off...
"LAST DAY IN CROATIA....FOREVER"
- Monica Loo... at least five times today! (to Lisa's extreme displeasure!!!!)
So we went from Croatia's southernmost tip, to one swanky island, to a city in the middle of its coast, to its prized national park, and finally its capital city. We're finding it hard to describe what we've experienced in the last week but perhaps this is because we haven't had much time to gather our thoughts. Beautiful country, beautiful people (darn unfriendliness!!), and interesting history. We had fun!
it's off to venice, italy tonight! we're spending our night on the train... couchette-style... monica: not looking forward to it. lisa: this'll be fun!
