I've mentioned that I have a thing for waterfalls. The bigger, the louder the better. It's actually surprising that I've never been to Niagara Falls before. Anyway. On Bali there's a number of waterfalls, but unfortunately, most of them have been overrun by souvenir sellers. It's like running the gauntlet to get through them to get to the attraction. The waterfall at Gitgit is different, thankfully. There's just a small sign by the side of the road, and you literally take a narrow dirt path to get to the falls. Strangely enough, though, there is a little hut half way down where you stop and pay "admission". It worked out to be roughly 10 cents each, nothing to complain about. Besides, it's a family with lots of small kids who are running the booth. Why they give you a printed, stamped receipt is beyond me though.

The pictures here do the falls quite a bit of justice. The spray coming off the falls is beautiful, and quite refreshing to stand in on a hot day like it was that day. In fact, the picture here of Heather and Nyoman standing in the spray is one of my favourite pictures thus far. The Gitgit Falls were definitely a highlight of our stay in Bali. Plus, it's just such a cool name: Gitgit (pronounced just as it sounds).
Why they give you a printed, stamped receipt is beyond me though.
