It's my first time in a Malay home! We came to drop off a baby gift for Afifah, who was born in July. What a beautiful baby!

Well, I've been back for a whole week now, and I haven't written a thing in my journal. Yep, it's been that busy (I'm just now finishing unpacking!). Of course, I didn't exactly have a journal in which to write, which tends to make journaling a little...difficult. So now I've most certainly forgotten everything that's happened this week! Well, maybe not everything... :)

The first week back was really wonderful! I've enjoyed getting to eat some good Malaysian cuisine again (wow, have I missed wantan mee!!), and being in the hot weather is just fantastic (though it's actually been cooler on account of the near-daily rains this week). Not that I mind the cooler weather. It's similar to when I first arrived back in January. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably cool it was. I reckon I would've had a much harder time adjusting to this place had it been as hot as it was supposed to be, especially since I'd just left winter in Ohio. Oddly enough, it had been unseasonably warm that final week of December... Providence? Yeah, I think so. :)

My students are all delighted I've returned for the new school year, as are their parents and my coteachers. That makes me feel quite happy. I'm looking forward to some great times in class, especially science and reading discussion, which are the two subject areas I studied when I was considering getting my Masters in Education. I do believe it's going to be a great year!

I got to visit a Malay home for the first time this week, which was pretty cool. My coteacher and I stopped by to drop off a baby gift for their "brand new" baby - actually she's already two months old! She was really a beautiful little girl. The ladies were all very friendly and offered us hot tea and homemade curry puffs. Mmmm!!

Well, tomorrow I'm going to church with my friend Alicia, so I'd better wrap this up. I'm trying to be more disciplined in my eating and sleeping this year, and so far it's going pretty well! But it's definitely time to head upstairs. So, good night to me, good morning to the western hemisphere!
