We arrived in New Zealand delayed and in the rain, but were still really happy and excited to be here.

We were on the same flight as Amy and Stu so we all decided to head to the same hostel, on arrival there we bumped into their friends from their earlier travels so we all headed out for some food and drink.

They  were heading off in their camper van the next day, so we said our goodbyes and went about exploring the city. As its pretty cold here we both needed to buy a few things to keep us warm so spent the morning shopping.

in the afternoon we hopped on the bus and headed to the Aquarium, i know you can visit an aquarium anywhere, but this one had a penguin ride! so there.

it was actually really cool, there were hundreds of emperor penguins diving about they are pretty cute really especially the babies. There was also this massive stingray pool. those things are huge, nothing like what you see in the sea life centre in Hunstanton. apparently the ones we saw are the same type as the one the got steve irwin (RIP), so they looked especially menacing!

For dinner that evening we went up in the sky tower to this revolving restaurant, the views were amazing and the food was pretty good, although the fact that it was revolving did make my stomach turn a wee bit.
