We've realised that we need to allow more time for everything in Ireland - and i mean that in the nicest possible way! Breakfast today took 1hr as the B&B host was very chatty, but she was also a lovely host and cook so it's all part of the experience.
We began the day by taking the car ferry from Talbert to Kilmer in County Clare and successfully avoided Limerick City which which we'd heard called 'Stab City'... We stopped at the Cliffs of Moher which were spectacular and also entertaining as we watched tourists climb over the guard rails and wander about on wet, unstable rocks all 200mtrs above water... But the weather was perfect with clear skies and no wind!
Ireland's third national sport

We continued along the coast road through the 'Burren' a bizzare landscape of winding coast roads, rock covered hills with barely any sign of plant life and all criss-crossed with ancient stone walls separating the paddocks, some only 1/2 acre in size. We then headed inland up a mountain that was more moonscape than earthly in search of a stone-age burial site, when Jonno noticed the fuel gauge on empty so we quickly turned around and coasted 10km down hill before thankfully finding a petrol station.... We made it back up the mountain and found the burial site, it was a simple house of cards structure with 2 vertical stones and a horizontal stone on top - all built about 5000 yrs ago.

Onwards to Galway City where we are treating ourselves to a "posh" hotel, though we were lucky to find the tourist office to make the booking as the third national sport of Ireland (after drinking and hurling - the game, not the after effect) is turning street signs around...
Today's quote from 2FM Talkback with Gerry Ryan - "I think Ireland should have nuclear power stations, but i don't think we should let the Irish build them"
