Frankfurt am Main

I was in Germany when the currency was to be changed from the Deutschmark to the Euro so it seemed appropriate that I should go to Frankfurt, the financial centre of Europe.

As I first entered Frankfurt on the train I remember thinking how different it seemed to the quieter, picturesque Germany that I had encountered so far. Skyscrapers dominated the city which made it look a bit like a mini New York. As I exited the station I unexpectedly found myself walking along a street that consisted of sex shop after sex shop after sex shop, with signs advertising the Euro everywhere. I was most definitely in the big city now!
